Foreign Minister in Brussels for the Foreign Affairs and General Affairs Councils

Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides will participate in the meetings of the Foreign Affairs Council and the General Affairs Council of the European Union on Monday and Tuesday.

The agenda of the Foreign Affairs Council on Monday includes the situation in Syria and Libya, developments in Eastern Europe, as well as other current regional and international issues.

Prior to the start of the Foreign Ministers' meeting, Mr. Kasoulides hosted a working breakfast for his counterparts with a guest, Sheikh Ahmed Nasser al-Mohammad al-Sabah, Foreign Minister of Kuwait.

Ministers exchanged views on regional challenges, EU-Kuwait relations and enhanced cooperation between the EU and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), ahead of the upcoming EU-GCC ministerial meeting in February. Kasoulides will participate in the General Affairs Council, where the priorities of the French Presidency are scheduled to be presented, while efforts to strengthen democracy and protect electoral processes, the Conference on the Future of Europe, coordination on pandemic management and the latest developments in EU-UK relations are also on the agenda.

The Foreign Minister will also have a series of contacts and bilateral meetings with the High Representative Kasoulides will depart for Cyprus on Wednesday.
