We want peace and we are working for it, the Chief of the General Staff stressed Anyone who makes the fatal mistake of "coming" will find a new Marathon

"High morale, professionalism, stubbornness, your unwavering will but above all the strength of your Arms and the fire of your Soul are the best guarantee that Greece will remain strong, free and independent, whoever threatens us, whoever decides to come, whenever he chooses to do so!", the Chief of the Armed Forces General Konstantinos Floros pointed out in his daily order, addressing the troops on the occasion of tomorrow's celebration of the Armed Forces Day.

"We desire peace and we work for it... but whoever makes the fatal mistake of coming, should know in advance that he will find before him a new Marathon, a new Salamis and a new 731, and I am sure that the Greek Armed Forces will be glorified once again, fighting the good fight, as so many times before. Even for an inch of ground, for a rock, for a Greek stone. Because all this exists because we paid a heavy blood tax to have it. Heavy, very heavy!!!" he further stressed.

"Since the day I took office as Chief of the Armed Forces, we have successfully faced all challenges, first the unprecedented hybrid attack on the Evros border and then the challenge to our sovereign rights in the Eastern Mediterranean, during which the Armed Forces mobilized and operated directly, massively and, above all, effectively and deterrently. But we did not stop there. Our matrix of operational activities is conducted daily at national and international level, on land, sea and air, strengthening our interdisciplinary and interoperable synergy with allies, friends and partners, gaining experience and valuable knowledge, thus making the Armed Forces more ready for war than ever before and this is of great importance, because it respects the timeless axiom that prevails the same and unchanging over the centuries: If you want peace, prepare for war.

This I wrote down as my direction in my first daily order on the day I took office, and I observe it reverently. And it is the one and only recipe for the lasting peace we seek as a State. Preparation for war surely leads to lasting peace, especially in areas like ours that are rife with challenges, problems and neo-reconstructions. At the same time, the Chief of the General Staff referred to Greece's military cooperation with countries of the wider region, which makes our country increasingly reinforced in the hard core of EU and NATO decisions, as a pillar of security and stability in the wider region of the Balkans, the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East."

"The conclusion of strategic defence agreements, which we are implementing in an unprecedented upgrade of our international partnerships and our defence footprint in the region, is of undeniable value to those who know and watch. And there are many of them. Moreover, the readiness of the Armed Forces to the maximum extent possible is a benchmark for the multidimensional contribution of social work, without falling short of their main mission.

Addressing the members of the Armed Forces, the Chief of the Armed Forces urged "with the same determination, calm and at the same time steadfast, to give, if necessary and whenever necessary, with unwavering and unwavering momentum, the only answer that Greeks give when their existence is threatened. You have it written in your DNA, our forefathers have given it to us, it is known to everyone.gr
