The budgets of the National e-Health Authority, the Cyprus Addiction Treatment Authority, the Council of Medically Assisted Reproduction, the State Health Services Organisation (SHSO) and the Health Insurance Organisation (HSI), for the year 2022, were examined today by the Health Committee of the House of Representatives.

It is noted that for the budgets of the OCYPY and OAI, the session today saw the placement and consultation on amendments by MPs to bills or legislative proposals, which will be submitted for a vote this afternoon in the plenary of the House.

DIKO MP Chrysanthos Savvidis said that the National e-Health Authority is an innovative Authority, explaining that a private medical record will now be created for each patient.

He added that all doctors will have access to this file, noting that doctors abroad will also have access if a patient wants to visit them.

He noted that an anonymous database will be created, which will help science itself to deal with diseases, adding that his party will support the budget of the e-Health Authority.

Regarding the budget of the Cyprus Addiction Treatment Authority, Savides said that there is no regulation in the law that leads drug users to join a rehabilitation programme, to note that the Parliament should consider how it can contribute so that these children can join a programme to treat their addiction.

Referring to the budget of the National e-Health Authority for 2022, Michalis Yakoumi, MP of the Democratic Party of the Coalition of Democratic Forces, Michalis Yakoumi, stressed the important role of the Authority, noting that his party will support its budget with a sense of responsibility.



He expressed the assessment that there is a need to upgrade the quality of service delivery, especially electronic upgrading.

Regarding the budget of the Cyprus Addiction Treatment Authority, he said that as DIPA they support the work of AAK and consider that "it must continue its contribution to society, to continue its work with continuous adaptation to new scientific data, education of professionals, but also proper information for prevention and treatment of addictions".

Regarding the budget of the Council of Medical Assisted Reproduction, Mr. Yacoumi that the Democratic Party considers it important to support the Council of Medical Assisted Reproduction in order to continue its important work.

With regard to the OAS budget, he said that the PPP expects more scrutiny, "especially after the revelation of abuse of the system by various doctors," noting that "taxpayers' money is sacred and it must be managed properly without waste."

"Any errors and omissions," he added, "should be corrected."
