First stop Russia from bombing us and then the talks, Zelensky said -Ukrainian president urged NATO members to impose a no-fly zone to stop Russian aviation
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stresses that Russia must stop bombing Ukrainian cities before meaningful ceasefire talks can begin, Reuters reports.
Speaking to reporters in an interview inside a heavily guarded government compound, Zelensky urged NATO members to impose a no-fly zone to stop Russian airstrikes.
Zelensky said that in order to sit down at the negotiating table, it is necessary first to ceasefire.

He even insisted that a no-fly zone would be a precautionary measure and not intended to "drag" the NATO alliance into war with Russia.
Bombing in Kiev
For now, however, Russian military attacks are escalating, as just hours after the Russian Defense Ministry warned of a large-scale attack in Kiev, including targeting a government information building, the first bombings have begun in the Ukrainian capital.
The Russian forces are targeting important infrastructure in Kiev in order to disable it so as to facilitate the Russian invasion of the city.
According to both Russian and Ukrainian media, the Russian target included a telecommunications tower in the Ukrainian capital.
