They managed to control the fire that was extended by a burning car in the afternoon today on the Paphos-Lemesos motorway.
The fire, the Fire Service spokesman said, is managed[/B] which extended to an adjacent piece of land.
"The exact location is the area of Abelovouni near the community of Avdimou. Five hectares of dry grass, wild vegetation and trees were burned," he said.
Four Fire Department vehicles, three from the Forestry Department, two from British Bases, one excavator from the Provincial Administration and volunteers operated to extinguish the fire.
Firefighting teams are proceeding with full containment and final suppression while firefighters will remain on scene throughout the night for any resurgence.
