A place that distributes fake academic titles for money has turned into a pseudo-state, the Turkish Cypriot Teachers' Guild (KTÖS) claimed and called on the "Ministry of Education" and the "Council for Planning, Control and Accreditation of Higher Education" ("YÖDAK") to do their duty.
According to GMP, the guild's secretary general, Sener Elchil, said that they will reveal the names of organizations that give certificates for money and appear as if they have published in fake scientific journals using the name of the "company curator of the TRNC" in order to publish scientific journals and conduct scientific activities.
"Northern Cyprus, where 23 universities operate and 13 of them are waiting to be licensed to operate, is a place that distributes fake academic titles for money. The distribution of scientific publications and academic titles for money demonstrates the quality of education in this edifice called University Island. This is exactly what exploiting the advantage of non-recognition means," he added.
Meanwhile, the Turkish Cypriot Teachers' Guild (KIBTES), which is in Turkey for contacts, participated yesterday in a workshop organized by the Guild of the Turkish Teachers' Union (Eğıtım-Bir-Sen).
At the workshop, KIBTES board vice-president in charge of education issues, Ozlem Yasemin Karakuzu, presented the views of the teachers' guild regarding the problems of education in the occupied territories.
After the end of the workshop, KIBTES board members met with Turkey's Deputy Minister of Education, Sadri Sensoi and other ministry officials.
