Granting of one-off emergency aid to residents of mountainous areas Statement by the Minister of Interior, Nikos Nouris after the Cabinet meeting
The Council of Ministers at its meeting today decided to grant an extraordinary allowance to residents of mountainous areas located at an altitude above 600 m., based on the policy followed and implemented.
More specifically, it was decided to grant an exceptional allowance, which will be 50% of the allowance granted in 2021, in order to support the inhabitants of our mountainous and disadvantaged areas, due to the increase in fuel prices,[/B] but also because of the difficult weather conditions that prevail.
In this particular way, the President of the Republic and the Council of Ministers are clearly showing their concern for the mountain areas.
This particular increase granted for this year is extremely significant and generous.
In particular, a pensioner couple, who lived in a commune at an altitude of between 800-1,000 m and received an allowance of €395 until now[/B], will receive an additional allowance of €198 for this year.
A young couple with three children, who received 1,050 euros as an allowance in the mountain area they live in, will receive an additional 525 euros for this year.
It is therefore clear that the Government's support is practical, it is generous, precisely because we want to help people living in mountainous and disadvantaged areas in particular.
This policy benefits 19,000 beneficiaries or 7,500 households in 110 communities of our mountainous areas.
