Power supply to the Turkish side continues until the end of February
With an increase in electricity supply from 35 to 60 megawatts by the end of January, the transfer of electricity from the free to the occupied areas continues. The request of the T/C side will be met by the end of February with a possible variation of the quantity after the end of this month.
As CNA informs, the hours of electricity transfer remain the afternoon 16.00 - 21.30, which are peak hours. The increase in the amount of transmission through the connected networks is due to the weather conditions and the increasing needs on the Turkish Cypriot side, where the problem at the power plant continues to exist.
The Turkish Cypriot side has been requesting transmission of electricity from the Republic of Cyprus since 23 December.
The damage to the generators of the power plant in the occupied territories has not yet been repaired, resulting in periodic power cuts which are expected to be addressed by increasing the amount of power supplied until at least the end of January.
