Police authorities arrested a migrant trafficker in the settlement of Lefkimi in Evros.
The smuggler tried in vain to evade control on the Ormeni - Ardani highway and was arrested after a chase.

Yesterday (7-1-2022), in areas of Evros and Rodopi, two (2) traffickers, a foreigner and a national, were arrested by police officers of the Alexandroupolis and Rodopi Police Directorates, who were pushing illegal immigrants inside the country, in two different cases.
Specifically, in the first case, at noon, on a rural road near the settlement of Lefkimi Evros, policemen of the Feres Border Guard Department of the Alexandroupolis Police Directorate arrested the foreign trafficker, because they found him driving a private car and illegally transporting seven (7) illegal immigrants inland.
It is noted that the driver did not comply with a police stop signal on the Ormeni - Ardani National Road and developed speed, making dangerous maneuvers, while after the immobilization of the vehicle he tried to escape on foot without succeeding.
The police investigation revealed that the perpetrator - trafficker carried a fake identity card and a fake driving license of the Romanian authorities, which were seized.
In the second case, at night, at the height of the Western junction of the Egnatia road Komotini - Xanthi, officers of the Special Operational Intervention Team of the Border Guard Department of the Sapes Border Guard of the Rhodope Police Directorate arrested the domestic trafficker, because he was driving I.He illegally transported six (6) illegal immigrants to the mainland.
It is noted that the perpetrator lacks a driving licence.
Two (2) private cars were confiscated.
Two (2) private cars were seized.
The arrested persons were taken to the competent prosecutors, while the preliminary investigation of the two cases was carried out by the Border Guard Department of Feron Alexandroupolis and the Border Guard Department of Sapes Rodopi.
