Christoforou pointed out that the EU, respecting its principles and values, should have long ago imposed sanctions on a country, such as Turkey, which demonstrates criminal, provocative and unacceptable behaviour and which violates European and international law, violates the rule of law and human rights and violates the sovereign rights of Cyprus and Greece.[B-7][B-8][B-8] He noted that undoubtedly what we are asking today from the European Union is the obvious. To defend its own principles and values. To defend its history, the very founders and founding fathers of the European Union.
