The European Union today launched the procedure for examining the applications for EU membership of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, the French Presidency of the Council of the EU announced.
The three countries submitted their application after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The European Commission will have to formulate its formal position and the 27 will then have to decide whether to grant candidate status to the applicants before the long and complex negotiations can begin.
