Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar supports the progress of work in the Technical Committees to benefit both sides, a written statement from the "Presidency" said in connection with a reception hosted by the new Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Colin Stewart, for the two leaders on Tuesday evening.
Tatar, it is noted, sees the Technical Committees as an important mechanism to help facilitate the daily lives of the "two peoples" and as a bridge to ensuring effective cooperation and confidence-building between the two sides.
According to the "presidency" statement, at the reception the two leaders had the opportunity to meet with the co-chairs of the Technical Committees, as well as ambassadors and other senior UN officials, and Mr. Stewart referred in his speech to the achievements of some of the Technical Committees.
