Erhurman disagrees with the Turkish plan for Varosha What he said in statements

The leader of the Republican Turkish Party (RTK) made statements concerning the Cyprus problem. Speaking on a webcast in the occupied territories, Toufan Erhiurman said that the PKK disagrees with the National Unity Party (NUP) on the issue of Varosha and the future of the negotiations.

As it is known, in the previous days, the PKK and the CEC discussed the formation of a new "government" in the occupied territories.

Referring to the contacts with the CEC, Erhiurman said that the largest party of the Turkish right approaches the Varosha issue as an issue concerning the internal Turkish political scene.

Noting that the PKK relates the development of the TC economy to developments in the Cyprus problem, Erhiourman added that, "direct flight means much more tourism. The Varosha issue is an issue that we have to negotiate with the UN. We are calling for the operation of roadblocks at Lourudzina, at the gates of Paphos and Famagusta. We believe that these must be put on the right ground for our position to be strong in negotiations with the EU and the UN. The Cyprus problem is not only a matter of negotiations, but also a challenge for Turkish Cypriots to meet the outside world. The importance of this challenge is now also understood in the field of security."

In light of the above, Mr. Ehrhiourman added that the right ground does not exist for the formation of the CEC-RTC "government."
