Press release on Cyprus issue - statements by Cavusoglu and Ertugruloglu "We insist on the convening of an International Conference, as envisaged by the relevant UN General Assembly resolution."
"The statements of Cavusoglu and Ertuğruloglu make Turkey's objectives clear once again," the EPP said in a written statement.
"At the same time," the EPP notes, "they confirm that our involvement in an endless and ineffective process of talks which, as the so-called 'foreign minister' T. Ertougrouloglu has already revealed, was for the recognition of the occupation regime and the de-recognition of the Republic of Cyprus, is wrong."
"It is therefore imperative in any resolution process to insist on the convening of an International Conference, as provided for in the relevant General Assembly resolution, which unfortunately we have abandoned without ever justifying why", the EPP adds.
"When some people invoke resolutions to justify their position on IGOs with political equality, why do they ignore other decisions, including those of the General Assembly?", it concludes.
