Option to conduct a 24-hour rapid test for passengers travelling to the Republic of Cyprus Informs the Ministry of Transport

The proposal of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works was approved by the Council of Ministers at its meeting today in relation to the amendment of the measure applied at the gates of entry of the Republic of Cyprus for the presentation of a negative result of a molecular test by persons travelling to Cyprus.

Specifically, with effect from 5am on Friday, 14 January 2022, passengers, aged 12 years and over, and irrespective of vaccination history, wishing to travel to the Republic of Cyprus, will have the option of having one of the following diagnostic tests carried out:

  1. RT-PCR laboratory test valid up to 72 hours before departure, or
  2. antigen rapid test valid 24 hours before departure.

Please note that the obligation to perform a PCR test on arrival at airports in the Republic continues to apply to all passengers aged 12 years and over, irrespective of vaccination history. It is noted that the cost of the test (€15 at Larnaca Airport and €19 at Paphos Airport) is at the passenger's expense.

In addition, all passengers, aged 12 years and above, are required to undergo a rapid antigen test after 72 hours of arrival, with the exception of passengers who have received the booster/3rd dose of an acceptable COVID-19 vaccine.

Finally, it is reminded that the completion of the Cyprus Flight Pass prior to departure is mandatory for all persons travelling to the Republic of Cyprus.
