19 complaints for violation of COVID measures -Fines of €6,500 in Nicosia for safepass

In the last 24 hours (from 06.00 on Monday until 06.00 on Tuesday), the Police carried out 1.671 checks, in order to ascertain compliance with the measures and implementation of the provisions of the Infectious Diseases Law.

As a representative of the Communication Branch of the Headquarters of the Police Headquarters told CNA, during the checks 13 complaints from citizens and 6 complaints concerning establishments were made.

Regarding the checks by province, in Nicosia 392 checks were carried out, which resulted in 5 complaints from citizens and 4 from establishments, in Limassol 180 checks were carried out, which resulted in 3 complaints from citizens and one establishment, in Larnaca 385 checks were carried out, in Paphos 89 checks were carried out, which resulted in no complaints, in Famagusta 361 checks were carried out, which resulted in 5 complaints from citizens, in Morphou 105 checks were carried out, without any complaints.

In addition, the traffic police carried out 133 checks nationwide, without any complaints. Of the 1,671 checks, 26 involved the Port and Maritime Police, with no complaints.

In response to a question regarding complaints at establishments, he said that the largest out-of-court complaint issued was €4,000 to an establishment in Nicosia because the manager allowed two employees to work without a safepass. Two other establishments in Nicosia were fined €500 each for not having a safepass, while a fourth establishment in Nicosia was fined €1,500 for not having a safepass. In Limassol, one establishment was fined €750 because the manager did not carry a valid safepass, while in Larnaca province, one establishment was fined €1,000 because an employee did not wear a mask.
