Boosts Ukraine with satellite internet All information
Elon Musk said yesterday, Saturday, in a tweet responding to a call from a Ukrainian official, that his SpaceX group has activated its Starlink satellite internet service in Ukraine and that the company is sending equipment to the country.
"The Starlink service is now operational. More terminals are on the way," the head of Tesla and astronaut group SpaceX tweeted.
A few hours earlier, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Fedorov had disapproved of the billionaire on social media, asking him to supply Ukraine with Starlink stations after the Russian attack on his country.
"While you are trying to colonize Mars, Russia is trying to occupy Ukraine! Your rockets may be landing successfully from space, but Russian missiles are attacking Ukrainian civilians! We ask you to provide Ukraine with Starlink stations," the Ukrainian official in charge of the digital sector wrote on Saturday morning.
He also called on Elon Musk to urge "Russians in their right minds" to oppose their government.
SpaceX launched a second shipment of about fifty Starlink satellites on Friday to provide an internet connection to customers around the world.
It is currently unclear how users in Ukraine were able on the ground to receive the service.
