The centrist party, according to member George Solomos, is heading towards the political congress on February 6 with the aim of making decisions that will determine the political framework in relation to the presidential elections and everything that concerns the country.
The draft Political Declaration approved by the Central Committee, which concretizes and sets the political basis on which DIKO will move, will be put before the congress.
"With the approval of the declaration at the Political Congress the party leadership will start a cycle of contacts and consultations with other political forces, seeking cooperation. The aim of the Democratic Party is modernisation, openness to society and the achievement of the change that our people desire and aspire to."
It points out that the Democratic Party continues its political course on the basis of the principles of democracy, the rule of law and human rights on which it was founded.
"Our goal for tomorrow is to lead Cyprus together into a new era, with a new model of economic development and support for the middle class, to fight corruption and restore the prestige of our country, to deal with poverty and strengthen our welfare state and of course to achieve the exit from the national deadlocks we have reached on the Cyprus issue.
It is noted that the DIKO Political Conference will be held hybridly, i.e. with both physical and online presence of the delegates following all the relevant protocols."
