In the last 24 hours, after 1,753 checks carried out throughout the country, the Police proceeded to denounce 13 citizens and 7 establishments[/B], in order to ascertain compliance with and implementation of the provisions of the Infectious Diseases Law.

A spokesman for the Police Headquarters' Communication Branch told the Cyprus News Agency that 517 checks were carried out in Nicosia, during which three premises managers and five citizens were reported. In Limassol, 171 checks were carried out, which resulted in four complaints from citizens and three from managers of premises.

In Larnaca, 412 checks were carried out without complaints, in Paphos, 46 checks were carried out, which resulted in two complaints from citizens. In Famagusta 274 checks were carried out and two citizens and one business were complained about, while in the Morphou area 195 checks were carried out and two complaints were lodged against business managers.

The traffic police carried out 128 checks throughout Cyprus, without any complaints. No complaints arose from the 10 inspections by the port police either.

In relation to the fines in the premises, in the Nicosia district they concern a workplace where a case was detected of a person who was supposed to be on self-restraint and was fined 500 euros. A fine of 1,500 euros was imposed on a cafeteria because an employee of the cafeteria was not a safepass. For the same reason, a 1,000 euro fine was imposed on a frutaria.

In Limassol, fines were imposed on two barber shops, the first 1.000 euros for allowing entry to oversubscribed customers and the second 500 euros for a manager without a safepass. A fine of 1500 euros was imposed on a supermarket - fruit market for allowing entry to a customer without a safepass.

In Famagusta the establishment which was reported concerned a supermarket where a customer without a safepass was detected and a fine of 1,500 euros was imposed.
