"Deliberately misleading" statements by the President of the OSAK, says the President of the EPP "The statements and the empathy he repeatedly displays, allegedly under the pretext of the philosophy of YESY, cover up and justify abuses."

The President of the EPP, MP Marinos Sizopoulos, in a written statement on Friday referred to statements made by the President of the Federation of Cyprus Patients' Associations (OSAK) Marios Kouloumas which he described as "deliberately misleading", adding that they come as no surprise as, as he says, the positions and empathy he repeatedly displays, under the pretext of the philosophy of the GESY, cover up and justify abuses.

Mr. Sizopoulos quotes what he said at the meeting of the Parliamentary Control Committee on Thursday, as included in the report of the CPS, according to which he said that his party had submitted proposals since 2017 to prevent the waste of public money, for supervisory control, for ways to integrate doctors and their fees from the GESY.

"We were accused then that we do not want the GESY," he said and said that he, as a doctor, chose to stay out of the GESY to avoid being "part of the waste of public money and the 'fraud' that the system promotes" and concluded that until now no proposal to improve the functioning of the system has been put forward," added the text from the report quoted in the written statement by Mr. Sizopoulos.

He adds that he understands the reasons why Mr Kouloumas is trying to misrepresent the statement he made to the Audit Committee with his public interventions, adding that the statement is specific and anyone can read it.
