At least 14 people died and 17 were injured in a road accident involving a bus and a minibus in the southern part of the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt, according to security officials.
Fog and excessive speed of the two drivers were responsible for this accident, which occurred near El-Tor, capital of South Sinai province, 400 kilometers southeast of Cairo, the same sources explained.
The bus had started from Cairo and was heading to Sharm el-Sheikh, on the Red Sea, when it collided with the minibus.
All the injured were taken to a hospital in the city of El Tor.
Many accidents occur in Egypt, where road maintenance is not good and the traffic code is largely not followed.
According to official figures, 7,000 people were killed in traffic accidents in Egypt in 2020.
