There are only hopes of escaping the deadlock "if we remain steadfast that the Cyprus problem is an issue of invasion and occupation," says EPP President Marinos Sizopoulos.
In a written statement, Mr. Sizopoulos also says that "as long as we do not learn from the mistakes of the past in order to correct or avoid them, as long as the Cyprus problem slides from an issue of invasion and continued occupation to an issue of intercommunal settlement or Confidence Building Measures (CBMs), we are helping Turkey to promote and implement its expansionist goals against the Republic of Cyprus".
