Recognition of the pseudo-state through three stages is being promoted by Ankara They are implementing a plan they have had in the drawer since 2012 The steps taken so far and how they intend to proceed Turkey Thin balance and dangerous developments in the Cyprus problem
In the spring of 2012, the Milliyet newspaper published a Turkish plan for the recognition of the pseudo-state in three phases. The plan included on the one hand the announcement of the desire for international recognition of the occupied territories, then the opening of the enclosed city of Famagusta and finally the renaming of the pseudo-state as the "Turkish Cypriot state". The same document precisely defined Plan B. In the event that these actions did not produce the "desired result", the procedures for the annexation of the occupied territories to Turkey would begin. Something that was always on the Turkish agenda anyway.
Today, ten years later, it is obvious that we are witnessing the implementation of this plan. With Ankara's help, the occupied territories are engaged in a campaign to promote recognition internationally and have proceeded with the first stages of opening the Varosha under Turkish Cypriot administration. The third step leads to moves we have seen made in the last three years aimed at strengthening the dependence and total control of the occupied territories by Turkey.
Just a few days ago the plan to classify flights to and from the occupied territories as domestic, under the pretext of cheaper tickets, was revealed. In the same vein, Tatar's close associate, Fuat Nalcioglu, has proposed a land link with the construction of a road bridge. At the same time they are promoting the electrical interconnection through an undersea pipeline.
This was preceded by the water pipeline, compulsory Koranic lessons, arrests of personalities who disagree with Erdogan's policies, lawsuits against journalists, the appointment of the Turkish Vice President, Fuat Oktay, as "governor" of the occupied territories. And these are just some of the things that have happened since the election of Ersin Tatar.
Day by day it is revealed that we are in the middle of a process of turning the pseudo-state into a Turkish province, either figuratively or literally. The horizon of this process is considered to be 2023. Erdogan, who wants nothing more than to lose power, has promised to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Turkish state with a greater Turkey.
It is no coincidence that the Turkish refusal to make progress on the Cyprus problem is now manifesting itself in all fields, on every occasion and at every opportunity. The stubborn attitude of its neighbour and its enabler in the occupied territories clearly demonstrates that there will be no retreat from the dangerous and maximalist ideas of changing the form of the solution. A dark plan that leads to the legitimization of the partition of the island, the recognition of a "state" that... was born as a result of a military invasion and the exploitation of the geographical location and natural resources of the country by non-entitled parties.
They envision a recognized "state", which will be able to develop political-economic relations and at the same time will be the geographical continuation of Turkey. An informal annexation of the pseudo-state, in an attempt by the country to completely control the entire island and by extension the European Union.
[BR][BR]And if they do not succeed, they seem determined to activate Plan B and proceed to... proper annexation of the occupied territories to Turkey.[/B] Then maybe the international community will understand the criticality of the moment, although it will be too late.
