Pseudo-state propaganda on migration issue Rejects as "unsubstantiated allegations" about the instrumentalization of migrants and accuses the Greek Cypriot side of refusing to cooperate Other show the data on migrant arrivals via the Green Line
Unashamedly, the pseudo-state accuses the Greek Cypriot side of making "baseless accusations" about Turkey's instrumentalisation of the migrant issue. The "foreign ministry" of the occupied territories reacted to Nouri's intervention at the informal Council of 27 EU interior ministers. The Interior Minister called for sanctions to be imposed on Turkish airlines that systematically transport migrants to the occupied territories in order to channel them to the free areas across the Green Line.
The "foreign ministry" accuses the Republic of Cyprus (like Greece) of allowing migrants to drown in the waters of the Eastern Mediterranean because it refuses to accept them on its territory. On the other hand, it claims that the Greek Cypriot side refuses to cooperate in managing this humanitarian crisis, "despite the proposals put forward by the Turkish Cypriot side."
Another lie from the pseudo-state, which seems to feel aggrieved and wronged every time it hears some truth. It invokes "proposals" that never existed, but only some statements of intention to cooperate. In words, because in deeds the facts are different. As if it is not Turkey and the occupied territories that are preventing Frontex from patrolling the seas around Cyprus with their attitude.
They are the propagandists who exploit human suffering, implementing a well-organised plan to channel migrants into the territories of the Republic of Cyprus. The corridor they have created is not a theory. They send by boat or by air thousands of migrants and refugees from Turkey to the occupied territories and from the "black holes" in the buffer zone they "push" them into the free areas.
This is exactly how about 8 out of 10 migrants who came to little Cyprus in the last few months illegally entered the country. In fact, according to Interior Ministry figures, 66% of arrivals in 2020 (out of a total of 7094) and 83% of arrivals in 2021 (out of a total of 13235) took place via the green line. Last month (January 2022) this figure shot up to 90% (from a total of 1335).
The figures speak for themselves. In the face of all this, the pseudo-state whistles indifferently, playing the victim. Otherwise - it says - that it proposes cooperation and the Greek Cypriot side refuses. Or does he also want to exploit this humanitarian issue to promote cooperation between "two states"?
