[Cyprus Times] Crowded bars with no distances The fines "distributed" by the Police in the last 24 hours

5 establishments and 15 citizens complained for violation of measures against COVID-19

In 1960 checks in connection with the observance of health protocols due to the pandemic, the Police carried out in the last 24 hours 20 complaints, 5 concerning owners of establishments and 15 citizens.

In Nicosia, 566 checks were carried out and complaints were lodged against two citizens and two owners of premises.

The premises concern a bar where an inspection shortly after midnight revealed that more patrons were allowed to enter than the corresponding square footage of the premises. The manager of the establishment was ordered to pay a fine of 1500 euros.

The second complaint concerns a nightclub where an inspection was carried out at around 2am on Saturday morning and resulted in a complaint from the owner for failure to maintain distances and overcrowding.[/B][/B]

In Limassol 212 checks were carried out in Limassol which resulted in complaints against three citizens and three establishments.

The first establishment concerns a bar whose manager did not have a safe pass so the police proceeded to file a complaint against him and issue a 750 euro fine. The check was carried out shortly after midnight.

The second establishment in Limassol concerns a company in whose offices employees were working without a safe pass. The company was denounced and a fine of 1500 euros was issued. The inspection was carried out at 15.30 in the afternoon.



Finally, a restaurant where an inspection was carried out at 20.15, it was found that customers were allowed to enter without the necessary certificates and the owner of the restaurant was reported to the police, who also imposed a fine of 750 euros.[/B]

In Larnaca District[/B] from 467 checks no violation or complaint was found and the same happened in Paphos District where 24 checks were carried out.

In Famagusta District[/B] from 354 checks nine people were reported and from 172 checks in Morphou District one citizen was reported.

Finally, from 153 checks by the Traffic Police and 12 by the Port Police, no violation or complaint was found, as well as at the two airports of Larnaca and Paphos.
