References to the coup, the naturalization scandal and the case of the serial killer among others in the Gioni material are being studied and evaluated by the investigators of the Anti-Trafficking Bureau. The Cyprus Police remains on an open line with the Greek authorities
The Cyprus Police remains on an open line with the Greek authorities, which since Wednesday has received and is evaluating the 47 pages of material sent by activist Ilias Gionis via email on the complex case of the pimping ring operating in Greece, focusing of course on evidence that may involve Cyprus.
The same material received by the Cyprus Police was also sent by Mr Gionis to the Thessaloniki Police Directorate, which is investigating the shocking gang rape case reported by 24-year-old Georgia in the suite of a luxury hotel in the Greek capital on New Year's Eve.
As reported in yesterday's post, of the 47 pages sent by the Greek activist, 14 of them refer to Cyprus and mainly concern photos from social media posts, as Police Spokesman Christos Andreou said in yesterday's statements.
"In the letter there are references to various items that do not relate to personal experiences or personal knowledge of Mr. Gioni. It is material that is posted on various internet sites or some posts or messages of other persons that were forwarded to Mr. Gioni on a PMD that he maintains," Mr. Andreou said.
- Party invitations and photos sent by Gionis to police under the microscope
- They are looking for something tangible in Gioni's material. "They do not involve his experiences or knowledge," police say
Now, investigators from the Anti-Trafficking Bureau, who do not have any relevant complaint before them, are searching the material for those elements that will open the cycle of interrogations surrounding the case. As has already been reported, if the evaluation deems it necessary, investigators will go to Greece to take statements, but for the moment this does not appear to be the case.
"The Chief, after consultation with the Attorney General and the Assistant Attorney General, has given directions for the investigations to follow with emphasis on postings and information concerning Cyprus," the Police Spokesman said yesterday."

Coup and Metaxas
According to information from the Cyprus Times published yesterday, in the material sent by Elias Gionis there are references to other cases not related to the pimping ring such as the issue of naturalizations up to the coup in Cyprus, references to the serial killer case and an earlier murder case for which Cyprus has been convicted by an international court.
