What the singer's lawyer, Spyros Demetriou, tells protothema.gr Costas Doxas released

The background of the arrest of singer Costas Doxas, against the background of his child supporty, in Thessaloniki, is given by his lawyer, Mr. Spyros Demetriou.

One of his two legal defenders, along with Ms. Markella Mastoraki, reports protothema.gr that the singer was arrested after a complaint filed by his ex-wife on the issue of alimony, while he was with his child, was taken to the White Tower Police Station and then, after the necessary explanations, he was released.

"Since June 2021, the court ruled that Mr. Doxas should pay reduced alimony to his wife and child."

"Since June 2021, the court ruled that Mr. Doxas should pay reduced alimony to his wife and child. Only the child support remained, as the court found that his ex-wife could work and therefore cover her personal living expenses. However, until the judgment was handed down, until December 2021, Mr Doxas regularly paid the increased maintenance awarded by the first court in the amount of EUR 600. Since January now, for all those months, his ex-wife retroactively owes him the difference. Since January 2022, he has been paying the reduced maintenance as a matter of course in order to comply with the court's judgment. Because his wife owes him money and is not allowed to offset alimony against debts, my client delayed for a few days to pay her the money and paid it yesterday, January 18. She, however, had filed a lawsuit since the 17th of the month, even though she saw that the alimony had been paid properly," says Mr. Demetriou.

And he adds: "Today, and while my client was in contact with his child, his ex-wife pointed out to the White Tower Police Station where he was, resulting in his arrest. He was arrested and, after proving to the police that he has paid the alimony, he was released and of course he reserves his legal rights."
