From reply to reply and the rivalry between AKEL and the government continues
A little after the Government Spokesman's written statement to AKEL on the protest marches and on the precision proposals, AKEL responds again to Mario Pelekanos by referring to proposals the party has long presented.
AKEL's reply
"Commenting on the mobilisations organised by AKEL demanding that the government take measures to deal with the issue of precision next Saturday, the Government Spokesperson called on us to propose specific measures.
For months, AKEL has presented specific proposals which it has sent to the competent ministers, even discussed them with the President of the Republic and some of them, such as the reduction of VAT on electricity, have been approved by the Parliament.
Two things can happen: either the government spokesman is trying to conceal the fact that AKEL has specific proposals, or it has not come to his attention that AKEL has long been proposing specific measures to deal with the issue of price rises. We do not know which of the two is worse.
In any case, we again inform Mr Pelecanos that AKEL has tabled ten very concrete and immediately implementable measures to relieve households. For his convenience, we will send them to his e-mail, so that he has all the necessary information he ought to have as a government representative."
