The Limassol Municipality will place a handrail with a handle on which the disabled will be able to support themselves to enter and exit the water.
According to a statement, "the Limassol Municipality is promoting the right of people with reduced mobility to safely enjoy the benefits of the Limassol sea by constructing a special handrail for access to the sea."
The construction will serve bathers with reduced mobility, elderly people or people with disabilities who do not use wheelchairs, it adds.
Specifically, the announcement continues, a railing with a handrail will be placed on the beach of Olympia Beach, starting from the beach and penetrating into the water for about 25 meters, with a total length of 40 meters.
The recommendations of the Cyprus Ports Authority and the Provincial Administration have been taken into account for the construction, while the cost of the construction will amount to €14,000.
The contract has already been awarded and the contractor is in the process of ordering the materials, the announcement concludes.
