Of concern is the increase in covid cases at Nicosia's Makarios Hospital which provides hospitalization to children and pregnant women.

Speaking to state radio, the spokesman of the OCYP, Haralambous Harilaou, said that currently, 14 pregnant women and 6 children are being treated at the hospital with coronavirus.

"Until now we were creating wards for covid cases that needed hospitalization. Now, we are noticing that we have cases that need hospitalization for other reasons but are positive for covid. So these cases cannot be in wards with other patients," Harilaou said.

As he said, thoughts and discussions are underway to consider the possibility of creating a special ward in each department of a hospital to treat cases depending on their condition.
