[Cyprus Times] Clouds, rain and snow on today's weather menu

Weather forecast from the Met Office Weak high pressure is affecting the region, with low pressure expected from Thursday

Today the weather will be partly cloudy and isolated showers are possible in the afternoon, mainly in the west and north, while snow or sleet is likely to fall on the higher peaks of the Troodos.[/b] Winds will be northeast to southeast, light 3 and occasionally on the east and south coasts, up to moderate 4 Beaufort. The sea will be a little rough. The temperature will rise to around 19 degrees in the interior and the coast and 9 degrees in the higher mountains.

In the evening the weather will gradually become mainly cloudy and isolated showers or thunderstorms are expected. Snow is likely on the higher peaks of the Troodos. Winds will be mainly northeast to southeast, light 3 Beaufort and occasionally onshore, up to moderate 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough. The temperature will drop to 7 degrees in the interior, around 11 degrees on the coast and 2 degrees in the higher mountains, where frost will form locally.

On Thursday and Friday the weather will be mainly cloudy and local showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected from time to time. On the higher peaks of the Troodos or locally in the higher mountains it will snow from time to time. From Friday evening the phenomena are expected to weaken.

On Saturday the weather will be mainly clear but there will be occasional increased clouds.

The temperature will be at the same levels on Thursday and Friday, which are close to the climatic averages. A slight increase is expected on Saturday.

The snow depth at Troodos Square, at the time of writing, was 17 cm.
