Clean Monday at the excursion site at the chapel of Archangel Michael in Athienou is organized by the Municipality, observing all measures against the pandemic.
In a statement, the Municipality of Athienou informs that, realizing the fatigue of the citizens from the containment and months of efforts to deal with the pandemic, this year it is organizing the traditional "Cutting of the Lenten Mutt" in this particular place but differently than every year.
The Municipality informs that it will facilitate the citizens by providing tables and chairs, as well as free wine and nuts.
However, the organization of a music and dance event, the ciattis contest and the kite contest will not take place, for the protection of all, young and old, since recently, unfortunately, a large number of cases of coronavirus in Athienou have been observed.
The public is invited to enjoy nature, to revive the customs of Clean Monday with care and caution, with the hope that in time we will return to the usual celebration of the day.
