The owner of the construction company Atlantic Star received eight bullets and is hospitalized in serious condition He had served as president of the Chania sports club How the attack happened The racketeering department took over the case

Who and why did they want the 63-year-old businessman Michalis Tzougarakis dead? This is the question to which the officers of the Attica Security Service's racketeering squad, who have taken over the investigation of the ambush death today at dawn in Paleo Faliro, are called upon to answer.

Extortion officers know that the businessman, who runs a construction company in Kallithea and served as president of the Cretan football club AO Chania, was not "carded" to the authorities nor had he reported threats and that he feared for his life.

So they are trying through statements of his own people to get to the motive of the attack and the people who gave the order to "eat" him.

At the scene were found 8 shells from a Kalashnikov which have been sent to the Forensic Laboratories of the EL.Given that at the time of the ambush the traffic in the area was minimal, they are searching through traffic management cameras to trace the route of the suspect vehicle.

How the ambush was set up

The ambush of death occurred shortly before 4 o'clock.

The businessman was in his vehicle with his son and a friend at the junction of Kronos and Aphrodite streets when the gunmen approached 63-year-old Michalis Tzougarakis and "gassed" him with a Kalashnikov. The victim was shot in the abdomen and was transferred in serious condition to the Red Cross Hospital where he is being treated.

Police officers believe that the unknown assailants wanted to kill their victim, but are unable to determine the motives of the attack. The case is being handled by the Extortion Department of the Attica Security Department.
