The collapse of the indictment against Christian Bruckner by a German prosecutor and a team of British investigators led by a former detective seems likely, say they have found "an alibi that stands up."

A twist in the Madeleine McCann disappearance case looks likely and the collapse of the indictment against the prime suspect, German paedophile Christian Bruckner, as British investigators claim to have found an alibi for the 44-year-old.

Specifically, they claim that Bruckner was "30 minutes away" from the resort in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on the night the four-year-old girl went missing.

It is recalled that little Madeleine disappeared from her room - while she was sleeping - in a holiday apartment in Portugal in 2007, while her parents were dining at a nearby restaurant.

German authorities had previously concluded that the 44-year-old, convicted in other cases, killed the girl, as phone records showed him near the scene on the night of her disappearance nearly 15 years ago.

However, now a team led by a former British detective has come to a different conclusion. A source told The Sun that "they have concluded that Christian B could not have snatched Madeleine. He was 30 minutes away and there is no phone record linking him to Praia da Luz on the fatal night."

The new investigation, led by former Surrey police detective Mark Williams-Thomas, has reportedly found new witnesses in Portugal and Germany and established "an alibi that stands" for Bruckner.

It is worth noting that a programme dedicated to all the clues to little Madeleine's disappearance, entitled "Madeleine McCann: Investigating the Prime Suspect", will soon be shown on Britain's Channel 5, which has been "built" around the prime suspect, Christian Bruckner.
