Britain has brought an army division to Cyprus as it prepares for a possible conflict in Ukraine, according to the TC Socialist Party of Cyprus, which claims to have such information and expresses opposition to the use of military and/or civilian bases, ports and airports in Cyprus in a possible conflict in Ukraine.
A statement by the party's general secretary, Mehmet Biridzi, says that the danger of a brutal war is a tangible threat not only to European peace, but also to world peace. "This war has the potential to turn into a nuclear conflict. Such a conflict is a real threat to humanity, as well as to the very existence of our planet."
Biridzi claims that NATO is preparing for a war in Ukraine, saying that "we must stop this imperialist attack."
Britain, he continues, has stockpiles of weapons in Ukraine and furthermore they have heard that as part of preparations for a conflict in Ukraine, it has brought an army division to Cyprus. He expresses his party's opposition to British bases in Cyprus, military bases, ports and airports being used for any purpose in a conflict in Ukraine.
