Going back two years, when the health crisis erupted, the planet was left unprotected against coronavirus, with various scenarios clouding the overall picture of the situation. The sequel is known, and in 2022, scientific groups are now talking about the beginning of the end, focusing on the endemic phase of the pandemic.
In this whirlwind of developments and with the thermometer of concern still running high, billionaire Bill Gates is sounding the alarm so that the medical community is not unprepared for the new coronaviruses that he has stressed are expected in the future.
In these two years of total upheaval, the king of Microsoft has made many prophecies. Attempting to offer a more in-depth look at how to deal with health crises, Bill Gates will release a book that is expected, if anything, with great interest from the world community.
In particular, according to the international media, he plans to release the project on May 3.
It is already known that his charitable foundation is focused on efforts to fight the coronavirus.
"Whenever I see the suffering Covid-19 has created - every time I read about the latest death toll or hear about someone losing their job or when I drive past a school that is closed, I can't help but think: We must not do this again," Bill Gates wrote in a post announcing the publication of "How to Prevent the Next Pandemic."
The trifecta that Bill Gates will promote through his book will be: Innovations, cures, overall lessons from Covid-19.
The book will address another burning issue, at a time when the wave of controversy is not small. He will express his views on vaccines, and Gates will not leave out of the writing frame the emotions that have engulfed him as a "protagonist" in conspiracy theories.
By the beginning of 2021, the previous year, when the pandemic had well and truly passed through every corner of the globe, Bill Gates presented a plan to prevent future pandemics, including the need for a global warning system.
Gates' contribution to the pandemic is in the billions. In particular, over $2 billion has been paid by the Gates Foundation to fund the global "response" to Covid-19. The money has been forwarded to groups such as the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to boost vaccinations in sub-Saharan Africa, where shortages of injectables are evident and fears of runaway disease are visible.
A few months ago Bill Gates estimated that Covid-19 deaths and coronavirus infection rates could fall below seasonal flu levels by the middle of next year, if no new dangerous mutations of the virus emerge in the meantime.
The billionaire Microsoft co-founder had notably predicted, speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in Singapore, that with the help of natural immunity, vaccine immunity and upcoming pills, "the mortality rate and the rate of new diseases should come down quite dramatically."
Covid deaths and infection rates could fall below seasonal flu levels by the middle of next year, he had said.
"Vaccines are very good news and supply constraints will be largely resolved by the middle of next year. So we will be constrained only by logistics and demand," Gates had added, speaking to Bloomberg editor-in-chief John Micklethwait.
