In the last 24 hours (from 06.00 on Friday until 06.00 today), the Police carried out 2.140 checks were carried out throughout the country, in order to ascertain compliance with the measures and implementation of the provisions of the Infectious Diseases Act and, as a spokesman for the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters Communication Department told the Cyprus News Agency, there were 19 complaints from citizens and 16 complaints concerning establishments.
In terms of checks by province, 574 checks were carried out in Nicosia, which resulted in 12 complaints from citizens and 11 from establishments, 189 checks were carried out in Limassol, which resulted in 4 complaints from citizens and 3 from establishments, and 492 checks were carried out in Larnaca, without any complaint, in Paphos 155 checks were carried out, resulting in one citizen's complaint and 2 premises, in Famagusta 432 checks were carried out, without any complaint, in the Morphou area 171 checks were carried out, resulting in 2 citizen's complaints.
In addition, 124 checks were carried out by the Traffic Police throughout the country, without any complaints. Of the 2,140 checks, 3 involved the Port and Maritime Police, with no complaints arising.
In response to a question, the spokesman for the Police Headquarters Communication Branch said that the majority of complaints to citizens concerned the non-use of protective masks. In response to another question regarding complaints at establishments, he said the majority of them involved managers or employees or patrons not having safepass in their possession and one establishment having overstaying customers.
