The actor believes the case will have a positive outcome and denies any accusation "I didn't pull the trigger" See his Instagram post
A few hours after Alec Baldwin was sued by the family of the Rust photo director, Halina Hutchins, who was shot dead by the gun the actor was wielding on set, he sent his own message via social media.
Specifically, a few hours ago, Alec Baldwin posted a video on his personal Instagram account showing a bright sign on the wall that reads: "Everything will be okay," expressing his optimism about the outcome of the case.
According to reports from the Daily Mail and CNBC, the actor is among those accused in the "wrongful death" of Halina Hutchins on the set of "Rust."
The unfortunate director of photography was fatally wounded when Baldwin fired a gun that was handed to him with the assurance that it was "dead" - that is, safe. But the gun, for reasons as yet unknown, contained a live bullet.
"Halina Hutchins deserved to live. The defendants had the power to prevent her death if they did their duty and protected the safety of every person in the set where guns were present. They ignored complaints of safety violations," the lawsuit filed by the family stresses, among other things.
And her husband, Matthew Hutchins, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the actor, alleging that he is responsible for her death.
According to a report in the New York Times, the lighting director of Rust, Serge Svetnu, has also filed a lawsuit against Baldwin and other producers of the film for negligence that ultimately led to a fatal accident and injuries to the director, Joel Souza.
As he said in a press conference: "There shouldn't have been regular bullets on the set. The accident caused me severe emotional distress that will haunt me forever. The bullet almost hit me too. I was holding her head while she was dying. She was my friend, this is the ninth film we made together and I agreed to do it for her, despite the low salary."
Baldwin himself, however, denies any accusation and maintains that he did not pull the trigger.
In an interview with George Stephanopoulos on the American network ABC, he tearfully stated: "The trigger was not pulled... I did not pull the trigger. I would never point a gun at anybody and I would never pull the trigger. Never. I have no idea how it happened. Somebody put a real bullet in a gun. A bullet that wasn't even supposed to be there."
