[/QUOTE]Novak Djokovic is headed for deportation - Australia cancelled his visa again Definitely out of the Australian Open
Novak Djokovic[/B] is headed for deportation, as Australia announced its decision on the Serbian tennis player's visa.
Greek-born Immigration Minister, Alex Hawke, has overturned the Melbourne Court's decision and used his power to cancel the top tennis player's visa, who is no longer eligible to compete in the Australian Open.
The Serb's lawyers are now preparing to file an immediate injunction against the decision, with the situation likely to be resolved over the weekend. If the court does not vindicate Djokovic, he will be deported from the country immediately.
The minister's reasoning
Mr. Hawke said he used his power under section 133C(3) of the Immigration Act to cancel the visa held by Djokovic "for reasons of health and good order".
He said "I have carefully considered the information provided to me by the Department of Home Affairs, the Australian Border Force and Mr Djokovic. The Morrison Government is firmly committed to protecting Australia's borders, particularly in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic."
