The bodies of migrants who drowned trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea on their way to Europe washed up on the Libyan coast, the Libyan Interior Ministry and the local Red Crescent announced.
The Red Crescent in the city of Hums, a port in western Libya, said that 17 bodies, including an infant, were recovered from a nearby shore and that another 10 bodies were found on another shore in the area.
The Libyan interior ministry said 14 dead were from a group of 60 migrants missing at sea.
They had been at sea for about a day, the director of the Hums hospital said.

Libya is a crossing point for migrants from African countries heading to Europe.
Large numbers of people have tried to cross the Mediterranean this year after relatively low numbers following the 2015 migration crisis. Around 1,500 drowned during 2021, according to the UN's International Organization for Migration.

The central Mediterranean crossing is the world's deadliest migration route, with more than 17.000 dead and missing since 2014.
