Yesterday the Ministry of Health published the special protocol for entertainment clarifying how citizens will be able to enter various restaurants and entertainment venues.

After two years of abstention from carnival parties due to the pandemic of coronavirus, the epidemiological picture has finally allowed for relaxation and it is time for citizens to return to entertainment, always respecting the health protocols.

The protocol, which comes into effect from today Ash Wednesday at 10 am, marks a return to fun and dancing and is aimed at catering establishments, entertainment centres and dance halls.

The maximum number of people in catering establishments, entertainment centres and music and dance centres is 500 people, provided that the floor space allows for a ratio of 1.5 m2 per person.

Specifically. of available service space (excluding kitchen areas, toilets, storage rooms) and can serve more than 150 persons, admission will be permitted:


  • To persons 12 years of age and older who possess a valid negative antigen (Rapid test) with a 15-hour validity regardless of vaccination coverage or certificate of recovery.
    [*]In children aged 6-11 years who have a valid negative antigen (Rapid test) valid for 7 days regardless of vaccination coverage or certificate of recovery.
    [*]It is stressed that the owner/operator of the establishment/business must inform the Ministry of Health by means of a signed written affidavit that his/her establishment will accommodate more than 150 persons on the basis of its square footage and will provide music and dance entertainment, as well as the details of the Safety Officer at the following e-mail address: healthservices@mphs.moh.gov.cy (The Affidavit is included in the Special Protocol).

Catering establishments (restaurants, taverns, cafeterias, beer gardens, snack bars, bars, cafes), irrespective of capacity that does not include a dance floor admission will be permitted:


  • To persons without a history of vaccination upon demonstration of a Rapid or PCR test of 24 hours' validity.
  • To persons 12 years of age or older who have completed their vaccination schedule, or received a booster dose of vaccine, or hold a certificate of infection with the presentation of a valid certificate of vaccination or infection.
  • Children aged 6-11 years with a history of vaccination by showing a valid certificate of vaccination or disease, or without a history of vaccination by showing a
  • valid negative antigen (Rapid test) of 7 days validity.
    [*]Dancing is allowed around the perimeter of the table.


c) Entertainment centres music and dance clubs, which have more than 225 sq.μ. available service space (excluding kitchen, toilet and storage areas) and canservemore than 150 persons, admission is permitted:


  • To persons 12 years of age or older who possess a valid negative antigen (Rapid test) of 15 hours, regardless of vaccination coverage or certificate of recovery.
    [*]In children aged 6-11 years who have a valid negative antigen (Rapid test) valid for 7 days regardless of vaccination coverage or certificate of recovery.

d) Entertainment centres, music and dance centres, which on the basis of square metres serve less than 150 persons, admission is permitted:


  • To persons without a history of vaccination upon demonstration of a Rapid or PCR test of 24 hours' validity.
  • To persons 12 years of age or older who have completed their vaccination schedule, or received a booster dose of vaccine, or hold a certificate of infection with the presentation of a valid certificate of vaccination or infection.
  • Children aged 6-11 years with a history of vaccination by showing a valid certificate of vaccination or disease, or without a history of vaccination by showing a
  • valid negative antigen (Rapid test) with a 7-day validity.

Citizens will be tested by showing the negative test in hard copy or text message, or by showing the certificate of vaccination or infection in hard copy or digital format, and will be identified by showing proof of identification (identity card, passport, driving licence and birth certificate for children under 12 years of age).
