The Israeli President's visit to Cyprus was short but with important messages Official reception at the Presidential Palace

The President of Israel Isaac Herzog arrived at the Presidential Palace where he received an official reception.

Mr. Herzog was received at the entrance of the Presidential Palace by Nicos Anastasiades and after the national anthems of the two countries were played, Mr. Herzog laid a wreath at the statue of Archbishop Makarios.

The two Presidents will have a private meeting followed by extended talks between delegations of the two countries and statements by the two Presidents to the media. The President of the Republic will decorate the President of Israel.

Before the television crews, President Anastasiades welcomed Mr Herzog, referring to his travels in the past few days.

Herzog and Anastasiades are expected to review the excellent relationship and cooperation between Cyprus and Israel, both bilaterally and trilaterally. Of course, energy issues will be on the table.

According to the Israeli Ambassador, President Herzog's visit to Cyprus is proof of the excellent relations between the two countries. "We are friends, we are partners, we cooperate on various issues and sectors and together we promote common interests for the benefit of both peoples," he said, adding that "Cyprus and Israel are linked by strong and substantial ties that date back even before the establishment of our states."

Meanwhile, heightened security measures are being taken by the police due to the arrival of the high-profile guest. More than 200 police officers will be involved in the plan drawn up for the Israeli President's short stay in Cyprus.
