The House of Representatives will be next to the villages of the mountainous Larnaca, in the effort of the residents to restore the area from last year's devastating fires, said on Sunday the Speaker of the Parliament Anita Demetriou
In her statements at the Bee Festival held on Sunday in Ora, Mrs. Demetriou said that "the mountain villages were in dire need of life especially after the devastated areas we had last summer."

We really hope, he noted, "that the region will be able to experience the prosperity it had before, because these are unique villages in terms of wealth and beauty."
He added that "the best opportunity to be here today was on the occasion of World Bee Day and also because they are called bee villages. We came to learn about the usefulness of the products that can be produced from honey, to talk to the residents to see what more we can do to strengthen the effort that is being made to enable the area to return" to the state it was in before the devastating fires.
In response to a question, Anita Demetriou said that in order for the area to recover "it takes time, it takes a concerted effort, the State has responded but much more needs to be done." As a House of Representatives, she assured, "e will always be here, precisely because these villages have a uniqueness, we need to protect them and strengthen the effort of the residents to redevelop the area."
The Speaker expressed satisfaction with the creation of the Phoenix Group which is an initiative of young and experienced people working together to be able to resolve the issues that arose after the fires they experienced. "Already the situation is better but it takes time and we will be here to support as we can in this effort," he said."
For his part, Aristos Miltiades, community leader of Ora, expressed joy and optimism because "we have by our side the President of Parliament, Anita Demetriou, who always visits the community when we are going through difficult times.
Miliades thanked both the Speaker of Parliament and the Government for standing by them and noted that "one year after the devastating fires, we are moving forward with patience to see how we can green our land again."
In addition, Giorgos Anagiotos, on behalf of the Group for Revitalization and Model Sustainable Development of Fire Affected Areas, called "Finix", said that "next to the group are the community leaders, in order to redevelop the area but also to do prevention, since some communities were lucky enough to have the disaster stopped about a kilometre from them".
Our goal, he continued, "is to raise some resources and slowly restore and make up for the damage done." People are responding but it takes a lot of effort and we need to convince the public that this goal can be achieved," he concluded.
