Morning update on the situation on the road network Police announcement
The roads leading to Troodos are closed for all vehicles, while several other roads in the mountainous areas of Limassol and Morphou, are open only for vehicles with all-wheel drive or equipped with anti-slip chains.
On motorways and the urban road network there is no particular problem this morning, Friday 04 February, however road works being carried out at various locations may affect traffic. Update on the roads where road works are being carried out HERE.
Closed for all vehicles, due to snowfall and frost, are specifically the roads, Platron-Troodos, Karvouna-Troodos and Prodromos-Troodos.
Open only for vehicles with all-wheel drive or equipped with anti-skid chains, due to frost that has formed on the road surface, are the roads:
- Pedoulas-Prodromos
- Pedoulas-Pine Wood - Kakopetrias
- Kyperounta-Agro
- Karvouna-Kyperounta
- Kyperounta-Chandria
- Chandria-Agrou
- Agrou-Papoutsas
- Papoutsas-Agios Theodoros
The roads Pedoulas-Kykkos and Kakopetrias-Pedoulas are open for all vehicles, However, the road surface is particularly slippery due to frost.
Police recommend special attention to those travelling on the road network in mountainous areas, while vehicle drivers are advised to drive at a safe, low speed, maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead, and give way to other passing drivers where necessary.
In general, those travelling on the road network are advised to obey traffic signs and the Highway Code to avoid traffic accidents.
It should be noted that the situation on the road network is variable due to winter conditions.
