<quote>Toyota envisions a zero-carbon future, respecting the environment and sustainable development. That's why it is enlisting a comprehensive range of electric vehicles that will meet all the standards for a greener future in motoring.</quote>

Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota Motor Corporation, elaborates on this vision of his company and elaborates on the future of automobiles by presenting its strategy, the innovative technologies incorporated in its new models and its goals for a better tomorrow for generations to come.

Specifically, Akio Toyoda says:

"Hello. I am Akio Toyoda. Today, I would like to talk about Toyota's strategy to achieve carbon neutrality, in particular our strategy for battery electric vehicles, which represent one of the most promising options. I believe that achieving carbon neutrality means realizing a world in which all people will continue to live happily ever after. We want to help make such a world a reality. This has been and will continue to be Toyota's desire and our mission as a global company. For this challenge, we must reduce CO2 emissions as much as possible as soon as possible.

We believe that all electric vehicles can be divided into two categories, depending on the energy they use. One category is that of "carbon-reducing vehicles". If the energy that powers the vehicles is not clean, using an electric vehicle will not result in zero CO2 emissions. The other category is that of "carbon neutral vehicles". Vehicles in this category are powered by clean energy and achieve zero CO2 emissions throughout their use. We at Toyota will do our best to build such vehicles. Today, we'd like to show you what we've been preparing for the future.

Let's start with our Toyota bZ range of pure electric cars. For the bZ series, we developed a special platform in order to meet the different needs of the global market. The first model in the series is the bZ4X, which we recently announced, and we are further expanding this series. Soon we will also offer a full range of mass-produced models at reasonable prices, such as the bZ series, to meet the needs of all kinds of customers. In total, by 2030 Toyota's lineup will include 30 electric models.

Lexus will develop a sporty, all-electric battery-powered car, among other things. At the same time, it aims to offer electrics in every segment by 2030 and an all-electric range by 2035. As for batteries, in the future we will increase our new investment from the 1.5 trillion yen announced in September to 2 trillion yen, aiming to realize even more advanced, high-quality and affordable batteries.

We at Toyota aim to be a company that contributes to the global environment, seeks to bring happiness to people, takes action and stays close to its customers. In summary, we want to be a company that produces happiness for everyone, both individuals and society. We want to create an ever better future for the children of today and those who will follow. We always want the future to be brighter. If we all take action with unity of mind, will and passion, we can leave behind many smiling faces and a beautiful land for the next generation. This is what I believe. And that is what we will achieve. Thank you."
