AKEL strongly criticises the Government and DISY on fuel prices and accuracy.

In a written statement, party Politburo member and Head of the Economy Sector Harris Polykarpou says that while fuel prices and accuracy are soaring, the government continues to whistle indifferently leaving society unprotected.

"Ten years earlier, Averof Neophytou and Synagerimos were staging communication fiestas shedding crocodile tears about fuel prices, but today they cannot find a word to say about accuracy," he notes.

He adds that AKEL's proposal has been before society from the very first moment.

"With demands to reduce VAT on electricity to 9% for everyone. For the abolition of double taxation on fuel and in particular the imposition of VAT on excise duty. For a reduction in VAT and a cap on essentials A proposal aimed at curbing the price tag and tackling the energy poverty that affects a large proportion of the people," it concludes.
