We expect allies to recognize pseudo-state, says Akar Interview with Haberturk
"There is a problem in Cyprus", Turkish FM Hulusi Akar said, saying they expect allies to recognize pseudo-state.
In an interview with Habsburg, Houloussi Akar said of the Cyprus solution that "there is a problem in Cyprus. For many years." "Under normal circumstances, to join the EU you have to have no problems with your neighbours. It's not with the neighbours there, the problem itself is a problem. Southern Cyprus was admitted to the EU as a representative of the whole of Cyprus. What is the explanation for this? We speak the existence of our brothers and sisters there. The Greek Cypriot side does not accept this. They with these initiatives, these activities are supporting the deadlock in the solution. These activities do nothing but spoil the Greek Cypriots and Greece. This is pointless. Third parties need to look at these objectively. We expect tdvk to be recognized by our friends and allies," Houloussi Akar said.
The Turkish minister also said, "We have problems with Greece." "Let us talk with mutual dialogue and peaceful ways. We have ways to increase trust on this issue. The Foreign Ministry has separate tasks. Our President has met with the NATO Secretary General. Greece is the one that walked out of the meeting on these three issues. There are different dimensions. We said experts should meet. There have been talks in Greece and Turkey. We waited for the fourth meeting for 2 years. We have no problem with dialogue, we are right, we are strong, we have been waiting for our interlocutors for 2 years. We have not lost hope. We are talking with other countries."
Regarding the F-16 talks with the US, Hulusi Akar said that "our work on procurement with our strategic partner, the US, started in June 2021 and continues. They said they support our efforts on procurement and modernization. There is an election in the US. We are waiting for the process. We expect positive initiatives from the US. A country like Turkey needs to be strong in the air force. F-16s are not the only solution."
