On July 11, 2018, Adnan Oktar and more than 160 associates were arrested on charges including creating a criminal organization, financial fraud and sexual abuse.

A year ago, the Turkish televangelist was sentenced to 1.075 years and has been in prison since last January. After feeling they were no longer in danger, some of his victims spoke out about their traumatic experience.

Speaking to the Sunday Times, many of his "kittens", as he called the women he had in his harem, did not hesitate to recount the horrors they experienced at his side. In addition to the "kittens", Oktar had Sahin, a man who served as "bait" to attract beautiful women.

He tells the Sunday Times that the Turkish televangelist encouraged him to dress in expensive clothes and take care of his appearance. Along with other "lions", as he called the men who served as "decoys", he would visit shopping centres or cafes in order to approach women by telling them how he ran a modelling agency.

Senta Izildar: I had a rhinoplasty without anesthesia

"I still remember the hammer. I was counting how many times they hit the hammer on my nose," says Seda Izildar, who revealed that she joined the "harem" of Oktaar at the age of 15 in the 1980s. Now in her 50s, she claims she experienced a "toxic relationship."



She claims that Oktar forced her to marry him when she was 30 and she was still in her teens. She stayed with him for eight years but managed to escape and moved to Canada, where she now resides permanently.

Another woman, Jaylan Ozgul, joined his harem at the age of 24 in 2006 and became one of the most prominent members of his group. She felt she was in "prison" while claiming that, in Turkey, no one took Oktar seriously because he liked to be surrounded by ladies wearing minimal clothing.

He made a career of spreading conspiracy theories

For 40 years, Adnan Oktar made a career of spreading conspiracy theories while on Turkish television he had a dynamic presence with shapely ladies surrounding him. He began to gain a following as the leader of a religious group at a university in Istanbul in the 1980s, from where Oktar had attracted the interest of young ladies of good society by peddling Islam in a materialistic, materialistic way.

He became known for his obsession with anti-Semitism, propagating the theory that Jews and Masons wanted to corrupt the spiritual, religious and moral values of the Turkish people.

In the early 2000s, Adnan Oktar became famous as a televangelist through the television station "A9 TV" which he founded and the broadcasting of his shows on small channels in Turkey.
