[CYPRUS TIMES] Achilleas Demetriades spoke about the devaluation of the system by young people in Deryneia

"Young people will only be convinced if you make them believe that their own contribution can bring about a change", said potential candidate for the 2023 presidential elections, lawyer Achilleas Demetriades, at an event in Deryneia, as part of the public consultation launched last October, analysing the issue of the devaluation of the system by young people.

Mr. Demetriades argued that in his opinion the time is ripe for people to support independent candidates, as this is how their vote counts, he said presenting the three pillars of the consultation - Honest State, Cyprus 2035 and The Solution is in our interest.

Asked about the Cyprus issue, he said that there is a legal possibility for the Republic of Cyprus to become a federation, stressing that "the dividend of peace will push Cyprus to progress" in conditions of security, while specifically for Famagusta, he referred to the need for a more balanced tourism and economic development and for a discussion of the issues that affect the municipalities and the areas adjacent to the occupied territories.
