Newborn girl, was found abandoned yesterday afternoon in a playground at the junction of Boeotia and Evoia streets in Chalandri. The infant was in a backpack, open at the top clean and neat and was wearing a beanie socks pants and other clothes to avoid getting cold.

The baby was spotted crying by a police officer who was on guard duty in the area and alerted the emergency services. A DIA team rushed to the scene as well as an ambulance, which picked up the baby and took him to the Aghia Sophia Children's Hospital

Doctors said he is about two months old, in very good health and remains for tests and care until the case is sorted out.

The baby's bag and clothes were sent for examination to the Criminal Investigation Department in the hope that some clues about the infant's parents may be found, while an investigation is being conducted by the Halandri Security Department.

Reports say that the woman who dropped off the baby, who was wearing a hood and mask in order not to be identified, seems to have already been identified by the area's cameras. The same reports say that inside the bag was a note stating the infant's name was Vasiliki.
